Orange-yellow ombre mirror work saree for Chhath Puja 2026

Chhath Puja Sarees 2026: 10 Yellow, Orange, Red & Mul Cotton Looks for Kharna and Arghya (from ₹1,199)

Chhath Puja 2026 falls on 13–16 November: Nahay Khay on Friday 13 Nov, Kharna on Saturday 14 Nov, Sandhya Arghya on Sunday 15 Nov and Usha Arghya at sunrise on Monday 16 Nov. For four days, vratis and their families stand at the ghat, cook thekua and prasad, and offer arghya to Surya Dev and Chhathi Maiya. The saree you pick has to look festive in sunset and sunrise photos, stay comfortable through a long nirjala fast, and be easy to manage near water.

That is why the classic Chhath colours are haldi yellow, sindoori orange, sunset ombre and auspicious red, the colours of the sun itself. Below are 10 looks from our studio, from easy mul cotton sarees for Kharna to zari Banarasi for the main arghya, all with free delivery across India.

Quick guide: which saree for which day?

  • Nahay Khay & Kharna (cooking, prasad, long hours at home): soft mul cotton. Breathable, easy to wash, no heavy border to handle.
  • Sandhya Arghya (sunset at the ghat): your most festive saree. Banarasi, gota or mirror work that catches the evening light.
  • Usha Arghya (pre-dawn, cold November morning): a saree that drapes fast. A ready-to-wear 2-minute saree saves real time at 4 AM.

Styling tips for Chhath at the ghat

  • Drape a little higher. Keep the hem slightly above the ankle so it stays dry when you step into the water for arghya.
  • Pin the pallu. You will be holding a soop full of fruits and thekua with both hands.
  • Layer for the morning. Usha Arghya is cold in north India in mid-November. A plain shawl over a cotton or Banarasi saree works well.
  • Keep jewellery simple. Sindoor, a nath or small jhumkas, and bangles are enough. Heavy necklaces get in the way.
